JOEL
An up and coming Mexican-American immigrations officer (ICE), Joel (27) is fiercely loyal and serious young man, who believes in serving his country. Growing up middle class in the Midwest and not having traveled much, Joel has a loose sense of his latino identity-.
Upon moving to Texas to pursue his career, Joel gets a taste for the local latino culture and realizes that his idea of serving his country involves detaining illegals for petty crimes and separating families. He has a crisis of conscious and question his choice in profession in comparison with his identity.

ANDRE
A typical high school student, André (17) does moderately well in classes but occasionally skips out to smoke a joint with friends. He helps his single father, Ernesto around the house and is an idol to his younger brother, José. A first generation American, André easily crosses the border to see friends and family in Mexico. The only thing that separates him from having a completely normal adolescence is that his father is illegal.
When a young immigrations officer, Joel, detains Ernesto for a petty crime he committed decades earlier, André is left as the man of the household. A chance encounter with Joel is a chance for André to help his father.
